Lake Hartwell Map & Fishing Information

Hartwell Lake is one of the southeast's largest and most popular public recreation lakes. Built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers between 1955 and 1963 as part of a flood control, hydropower, and navigation project, authorized purposes now include recreation, water quality, water supply, and fish and wildlife management. Each year, millions of people utilize the many public parks, marinas, and campgrounds conveniently located around the lake to pursue a variety of outdoor recreational experiences - making Hartwell one of the most visited Corps lakes in the nation.

Fishing is one of the most popular wildlife related activities in the southeast and Hartwell Lake's 962 miles of shoreline and 56,000 acres of water create an excellent playground for both the experienced and novice angler. Fish species include largemouth bass, bream, crappie, catfish, striped bass and hybrid bass. Numerous recreation areas, fishing piers, and bank fishing areas provide ample fishing opportunities. Fisheries habitat improvements include the maintenance of deep water and shallow water fish attractors and felling trees into water along the shoreline.

Lake Hartwell Fishing Guides
GEORGIA LAKE FISHING
My name is Wes Carlton and I am 36 years old. I am a native of Gainesville GA, and grew up fishing lake Sidney Lanier. Seven years ago I began guiding fishing trips for Striped Bass and Spotted Bass on lakes Lanier, and Nottely. I am a very involved, married parent of two boys 7 1/2 and 1 1/2, and enjoy teaching children about fishing. I have worked with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources on a wide array of projects. After a couple years of successful business I began to broaden my guide service. I started guiding World Class Brown Trout, Spotted Bass, and Walleye trips on Lakes Burton, Seed and Rabun. My business has really grown over the last couple of years; more than I expected. I have been fortunate enough to guide a couple of popular college ball coaches and a few television celebrities. My clients are from various regions of the United States and other countries ranging in ages 5 to 85. I am very professional and treat my customers with the utmost respect. I enjoy meeting new people every day!!! Most important "I LOVE FISHING"! Come enjoy a trip with us.
