LaPrade's Marina
Prior to VMG’s acquisition of the marina, LaPrade’s was first opened as a
fish camp in 1925, and became famous for its family style restaurant and
rustic rental cabins. The LaPrades family ran the operation until 1972 when
they sold to the Nichols family. The Nichols family ran the camp and marina
for 30 years before selling to LaPrade’s Investors and Developers in 2002.
LaPrade’s investors planned a residential and commercial development.
However, after the financial loss of 50 of the original 91 acres due to
foreclosure in November of 2004 and the mysterious fire that destroyed the
famous restaurant on the morning of Mother’s Day, May 15th, 2005, they
decided to sell. VMG formed LaPrade’s Marina, LLC and purchased the property
on March 28, 2006.
